Noosa is from the Aboriginal word "Noothera" meaning "shaded place". Noosa is a place of natural beauty, a cosmopolitan village of restaurants, shopping boutiques and sidewalk cafes. There is some debate about the meaning of 'Noosa'. Local legend has it that it's a corruption of 'no sir' that was the answer given to an early explorer by an Aboriginal leader when asked the name of the now-called Noosa River bar.
